The School and Provincial Champion and  the CANADIAN National 3rd Place Finalist for 2007-08 is:

DANIEL AUSTIN-BOYD

Daniel Austin-Boyd finished third overall in the Canadian Geography Challenge National Championships held on may 15th, 2008.  Earlier in march, Daniel won the Ontario Geography Challenge Championship which gained him entry into the national final.  Schools from all over Ontario compete to send students to the provincial championships but only the top 50 based on a written exam are invited.  In the National Final, Daniel finished just ONE point out of first place and was locked in a four-way tie for second.  After 3 extra tension filled playoff rounds, Daniel placed 3rd overall.  This is the first time a Northern student has won the Provincial Championship and then competed at the National level.  By finishing in the top 3, Daniel is possibly eligible to represent Canada in the International Geography Olympiad which will be held in 2009 in Carthage, Tunisia!
